Boulevard of Broken Dreams (Green Day)

Such a depressing song.. *sigh*

(These are the lyrics if you can't tell:)

I walk a lonely road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's home to me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
and I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah,
Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the border line
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's f***ed up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
To know I'm still alive and I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk alone

I walk alone
I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Ah-ah, Aaah-ah
Ah-ah, Ah-ah

I walk alone
I walk a...

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk a...

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone out there will find me
'Til then I walk alone...

YES! or Noooo...

I finished Chapter 6! I'm finally caught up with the normal Gifted people! Except I haven't taken the test yet..
Now- time to do Chapter 7: Rational Algebraic Functions! YAY! o.o
So many functions.. Chapter 6 was Exponential and Logarithmic Functions...
Oh god.
Chapter 8 is Irrational Algebraic Functions...
I hate functions now. Too bad Pre-Calc and Calc will be full of them too.
Oh fun.. Chapter 9 is Quadratic Relations and Systems (functions but they wanted to sound different and smart and be a tiny bit different...)
Chapter 10: Higher Degree Functions and Complex Numbers
I need a grenade...

This is one of my favorite piano pieces of all time- Ballade Op. 23 No. 1 in G minor (At least I think it was G minor):

homework.zuo4 ye4.tarea.boring

I'm trying to finish the entirety of Chapter 6 in two days, but I don't think it's possible. Maybe three days... It's basically exponents and logarithms.
But I'm supposed to finish the entireties of Ch. 6-9 in a week.
I also need to keep on pace for History. I'm off pace right now- and in big trouble.
I still have to call my teacher... >.<
I know I complain too much but it's a lot worse than how I describe it.
I really need to get a GameCube and Super Smash Brothers Melee. Even my 2006 MVC owns it. I'm not sure about my VP. But that's already two employees (three "family members").

Tuesday, December 26, 2006

FINALLY...

-my 2006 MVC as a cell phone
-I know exactly (within a few square feet) where he lives
-I finished my chart for History
-Christmas has come and gone (not really happy, but oh well)
-I can beat a level 5 Jigglypuff(originally said Kirby but that was just a stupid typo sorry) with Sheik in SSBM
-our family owns Monopoly
-I "get to" do an oral assessment for History which means calling my instructor to answer moral questions on Hammurabi's Code of Laws
-I officially want to hack into FLVS
-I got a card in the mail from one of my friends
-someone (that friend) told me she cried when she read my letter (also morbid)

And finally, FINALLY,
I HAVE MATH HOMEWORK TO DO AT HOME!!!!!!!!

I'm pathetic.

winter break will be busy

My Three "Jobs"...
1. Piano- play piano as much as possible, one more month until Chopin etude and Scarlatti sonata movement are more than perfect. Not possible.
2. History- do more work than is possible so later there is more time to focus on the real school. Go past Pace requirements.
3. Math- there is an apparent unwritten law that we have to be in the top five in the nation or be killed by the sponsor. Memorize answers to problems in hot pink notebook. Notice that people treat you very differently (in a bad way) when wearing a Mu Alpha Theta t-shirt at school. Decide to blow up non-math-followers. Must catch up on the Gifted people. Also not possible.

Other things that must be taken care of or else...
1. Tennis- must practice.
2. Eating- essential to life.
3. My Plotting Boot Camp- the only student is failing miserably. His first plot was "be last to take the food so you can get your portion and the leftovers". >.< Not the style I was going for but at least he thought of SOMETHING.

Yesterday, my Gator-fil-A VP finally knew what it was like to have siblings. This was because the Gatof-fil-A 2006 MVC(Most Valuable Customer) of the Year and I were fighting over who would carry the VP's metal cage of tennis balls. It was basic sibling rivalry and lack of communcation.

TENNIS

I played tennis today. It was awesome. I actually hit the ball!!!! And served! (not overhead but over Diana's head!)
I need to practice. I might actually be good if I were to play a lot.
I'm using really short sentences.

YES!

I have a 100% in History now! Here's one of the two assignments that the teacher graded. I was given a list of artifacts at the site. There was also a description of the site. The task was to explain how the site got there and who left the artifactst there and stuff.

01.03 Archaeology and Anthropology Assignment Part 2

My hypothesis (also an educated proposition made to suggest something is true without having definite proof) explains the existence of a watermelon shrine. These women did not quite view the watermelon as “godly”, but were extremely thankful for finding a field of them. The site was probably a ceremonial site located in Illinois, USA where people left the objects to express their gratitude towards finding watermelons. This was about 11,000 years ago- at the end of the last great Ice Age. During those times, the women gathered food and the men hunted. The women had a lot of trouble doing their job, so they became extremely worried. One day, they found the watermelon and decided to dedicate a shrine to them. This explains the circular object. It could not have been a sphere because the heights and diameters were distinct numbers. This is explains how it was probably more elliptical. I doubt the objects were truly made of concrete, but they probably got harder later on as earth piled on top of them. The base underneath which connected it to the ground and the red brick areas were probably made to hold the objects above the ground so they would stand out. They might have been made to look like they were offerings for the gods because the women obviously thought of the watermelon as sacred. The half-moon shapes on either side of the larger object most likely represented watermelons that were cut open. The brick was chosen to be red because it represented the sweetness of the food and the life it gave to the tribe.
The artifacts pertained to the watermelons and the shrine. The small square objects with thin wax coating probably held the essence of the watermelon. The spout openings were made because it was a type of container. The strong smell illustrates a type of ancient perfume. The three cylinder-shaped metal objects were probably versatile devices used to carry around watermelon juice. The ants were crawling inside and out of each object because they were attracted to the sweet taste of watermelon. Eventually, the tribal people carved ants crawling on the juice containers to try and ward off the real ones that were contaminating their drinks. The slices of pictures, writings, and maps in the hard-paper covered object were used to record where the women found the watermelon and how to get there. The additional hard-paper-covered object with individual slices indicated how much watermelon was found in the corresponding places that were explained in further detail in the other hard-paper-covered objects. It is possible that these slices were actually small watermelon-skin slices. The crumpled paper object with rose coloring was obviously a sample of the paint that they used to make pictures of their favorite food. A portion was left behind at the shrine because it was symbolic of the dedication the women had towards the newly discovered fruit. The five metal objects were the simplest to identify. Jagged edges were secured on a small metal ring for a convenient tool for different tasks, much like the modern-day “Swiss Army Knife”.

i'm so excited about my new email signature

epsieanniihsct/CEO of Gator-fil-A

"i remember now. how do you know where my house is? you should let me eat it saturday if it doesn't rain." PSAT VP Thursday, December 21st, 2006 8:09PM Eastern Time

mad...

1. I have an F in World History because my teacher hasn't graded two assignments. It is destroying my self-esteem (not that I really had one in the first place). And I can't think of how I'm going to complete the next assignment, but hopefully that won't be a problem because it's still Thursday.
2. I have a very disappointing IQ and when the people at school ask me what it is... ummmm.......... They're gonna think less of me. I'm sure about it. Don't dispute against me when talking about psychological actions. I know what I'm talking about.
3. Diana- the nicest girl in the world is even having trouble not looking at me as a stupider person.
4. I have to get to my counselor before 2nd period starts on the Thursday we come back from school. No one checks their email during winter break if it's school-related business except me.
5. I need ONE MORE CD-R. ONE MORE!!!! X.X I only have two left...
6. I'm SO TIRED of living up to peoples' expectations because it gets to me so easily and then I have to fulfill my OWN expectations which are higher than everyone elses expectations (except maybe Diana's) and IT'S SO FRUSTRATING!
7. A guy who I haven't met for about 6 years is coming to our house with his parents on Christmas Eve. After meeting him, my parents are probably going to yell at me for not exercising enough since he does cross country. -.- It's interesting how he has the same first name as BOGEY. I wonder if he's short too... I hope so.
8. My winter break isn't fun. It solely consists of piano, math and history. And that's it. I mean, there are random things here and there, but mainly just the three.
9. I'm failing all three.
10. My brother height is catching up to Diana's height.
11. My old little brother said he sat in an FSU stadium with a Gator shirt and then in a Gator stadium in the Seminole section (probably with a Gator shirt). And he's Gifted. But if I'm Gifted with that low IQ then he ISN'T Gifted. But he's pretty smart compared to the Gifted people at our school. So is the Gifted program completely out of shape? I guess so. Let's see what those Gifted people get when they take the IQ test again. Hehehe...

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

BWAHAHAHAHA!

I got a Christmas card from my Gator-fil-A VP today! (He's also the NMSQT VP.)
I also got my WISC IQ score. If Diana is intent on believing that she is stupider than me and that Jack is stupider than her, then I have no reason to believe that either of them should be in the Gifted program. Yeah. I think I seriously messed up that test. Oops. But I passed! And since Diana deliriously thinks that I'm the smartest freshman girl, then that leads us to wrongly believe that there's supposed to be three people in Gifted. Which is a bit off.
I have officially proven that Diana, David, Jack, Logan B and Shuyao have more intelligence than me. And my parents paid almost 200 bucks for it, too. So there. HAH, Diana! HAH!!!!

golf scores don't smile

I'm sure.
Very sure.
Especially not pars. Well I guess bogeys do. (Yellow Elf Greatly Obsessed with Blondes). Because PAR is RAP which stands for something. So my VP decided that we needed a BOGEY.
Today, in English, we were all finished with our finals extra early, and this guy had an NFL stats book. I said, "I hate football." His friend (they were both on JV football.. Hehe...) turned towards me and said, "YOU'RE NOT AMERICAN IF YOU DON'T LIKE FOOTBALL" or something along those lines. I said, "Well, I'm not American. Oooooooh." I'm so proud.
Everyone was so excited and infatuated with my, "No, but I am a U.S. lawful permanent resident (or have applied for permanent residence, the application for which has not been denied) and I intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law" paragraph on my PSAT score sheet. LOL!

World History Accelerated Honors Pace

My first assignment was titled, "Pace". I'm not kidding you, Diana.
The assignments (well at least the first three) are so boring that I'm considering liking reviewing for exams even more. -.-
The third assignment which is the 2nd part of the second assignment so it's the second assignment is SOO weird. I think I'm gonna fail it.
I can't wait until I'm done with this course. No offense to the teacher, but I'd bribe people with food if I could do math instead.

apush

Apparently, Advanced Placement U.S. History is really difficult... But after that torture history class in 8th grade, I feel like I can take on anything :)
However, I don't really remember anything we learned because it was basically "cram and remember until the test and midterm and finals" and we were good.
Oops.
I threw away all my work because I needed to get rid of a lot of stuff and plus, I was so glad to be over with it.
Oh no...
Who would keep that stuff, though? I mean, really. -.-
*optimism* Maybe I'll get an A in apush for junior year *too optimistic*
I hope so anyway.
More history tomorrow.
History, history, history.
My 8th grade history teacher would be so happy if she knew that I was taking extra history. Well it's not really extra, but it'll make me have eight classes if I'm lucky enough for Orchestra, so I guess it's extra.
Fun. More history.
Blah.
We only got to The War of 1812 but we were supposed to get to the Civil War. So much for that.
At least (hopefully) my brain will trigger with memory when we learn up to The War of 1812...? I should be okay when we go in depth with the Revolution. I might die of remembering the torture, but I should know it. Or at least have a vague idea of what's going on.
I am too bored. I have posted enough on this blog.
And only one person reads it. But it's more like my journal... maybe I should read my own blog. Then I wouldn't be so bored.
I'm hungry.

I think I'm dying of

boredom. Is it possible? I suppose so.
I HATE REVIEWING.
It is the most boring part of school besides maybe working with other people...
Like when we have "group projects" which really means "the one responsible person in the group must do work for four"... But that doesn't happen too often since it's high school and the teachers have finally realized that it is usually actually "the one responsible Asian doing work for four".
The only exam I'm actually worried about is English. Our teacher is also one of the AP Lang teachers which means that she'll make really difficult multiple choice questions whenever she feels like it which is pretty much most of the time.
However, there isn't much I can review. And it' soooo boring...........
I wish I could go outside and play tennis or something. Too bad the nearest free tennis court is about 20 miles away or something crazy like that.
Tomorrow is the math exam... Fun... Then more studying for English which is Tuesday. And Spanish is also Tuesday. Then Science which is Wednesday.
Then, WINTER BREAK! Which actually isn't good because that means math, piano, and World History. Fun. At least I'm not doing the history fair! :D My problem is that any free time I have is devoted to piano and then math is pretty much forgotten. I figured out one entire problem yesterday. I think that was a miracle because I actually opened my study book.
I'm so pathetic.

liu4 yue4 feng

Today, my mom quizzed my bro on the months.
Mom: Which month comes after May?
Bro: Errrmmmm...
Mom: It's a girl's name.
Bro 10 seconds later: June!

June is very much a guy who is also my VP for Gator-fil-A.

Speaking of Gator-fil-A, I have recruited a new employee. His name is Walter and he lives in Wisconsin. His title is Head of Stop the Omini-Nugatory Gators (SONG).
Omini is derived from "omni" which means "all" in Latin. However, I misspelt it when emailing me three people, so it is Omini. Which gives even more meaning to it. What good fate I have when it comes to inventing acronyms. Nugatory means "useless" and "worthless". That's pretty self-explanatory.

end of the bible-apocalypse-armaggedon-the end of the world

According to my mom, my dad is "very satisfied" with my PSAT score. I think it's a miracle, hence the title of this post.
My selection index was exactly 200. According to a random person my mom knows, I can't qualify for the NMSQT because I'm not a U.S. citizen. Diana can, though. *hint hint: double meaning*
Other people should read this. Maybe I'll bribe Jack with food so he'll read it. Then, more people would.
Another reason the world is ending: Diana annoyed me today. But I became immune when I realized how stupid she sounded. She now needs to find other ways (not that they exist outside of my mind) to annoy me. Hehe.

I am starting World History next week.
I haven't been called up to Guidance yet. I'm a bit worried. The normal school days have ended and there is no word yet. When I get back from winter break, I better be assigned into Orchestra or else.
I found the most wonderful Latin dictionary online. I found it by clicking on a link that said that this would have more words and it was better and basically, "If you're stupid you're not going to click on it so CLICK ON IT already." Unfortunately, I don't know any Latin grammar so I can't really use it. I forgot the few rules I learned last year. I stopped teaching myself Latin because I was tired of memorizing things that would not affect my grade.

PSAT/NMSQT

I got my score back!!!!!!!!!
And I didn't get a perfect score in math x.x
DIANA did, though ^^.

NMSQT

Gator-fil-A has several non-profit organizations.
They include JIG, PSAT, and The NMSQT.
JIG= Jack Isn't Ghetto.
I'll post what the other two are after Diana finds out. However, I don't know when that'll be. But since Diana seems to be the only one reading this these days, it doesn't really matter.
Maybe if I can change this into the Gator-fil-A official blog. Hmmm... But it'll still be my personal blog, of course.

blocks are fun

Yesterday was my IQ test. All I know is that I'm not a genius and I passed the 100 mark. Actually, I can't be sure I passed the 100 mark. I can only hope I did...
I got a ring pop from Diana's lil bro today! My experiment will start after I talk to my Gator-fil-A VP.
I should be studying Romeo and Juliet and finishing up my 150-point art project but I'm not. Oh well. I have a few hours left.
Exams are starting this Friday, but for me, they start next Monday because I don't have a first period class. My counselor replyed my email and said that she will tell me when my schedule is changed so it sounds promising that I'll have Orchestra! :D

Saturday, December 09, 2006

gifted test tomorrow

I'm pretty nervous...
14 more hours...
Well
actually
less.
more like
13 hours and 42 minutes...
Yeah...
Oh no.
How can I pass this?
No one takes it in HIGH SCHOOL!
-.-
I have no choice.
Well,
if they give me Orchestra,
I'll have eight classes anyways.
*sigh*

my fingers are numb...

Great. I actually have to wait until I can practice the piano because my fingers are so cold. Maybe I'll get lucky and it'll snow. That sounded incredibly optimisitic.
Today, I got pictures of the company people so I've started the December 2006 General Report.
Oops. I accidentally published this post for some reasonn. I'm in the process of "editing" it right now.
We have to do projects in Art, but the problem is, we have to show the teacher all of our skill and creativity, and she has high expectations for me but I can't think of anything to make the drawing more creative. It's kind of like writer's block.

I've founded yet another non-profit organization of Gator-fil-A. It's called PSAT. And it's not the Preliminary SAT or the NMSQT.

Off to dinner! :D

JIG (Jack Isn't Ghetto)

Yes, I changed it from SAJAG to JIG. This is because SAJAG is obviously very odd to say.
However, it is safer since the there is no "I" to change to "is" instead of "isn't".
Today, this "ghetto" white kid who lives in a rich neighborhood, or "hood", as he likes to call it, brought his chain to school. A few guys passed it around and wore it. It was odd. Two others acted ghetto, too, one of which is the vice president (currently second-in-command) of Gator-fil-A. I haven't promoted him yet because once you promote someone like that, either you kill him or you can't really change his status any more. And he never did the comics he was going to. And he tried to be ghetto today.
Interesting... I am currently using Gmail Talk with the person who had a "Deny Everything." shirt from the National Spy Museum. That was the foundation of my math motto. Oh look- he left. He had bio homework. Everyone has bio homework these days. I actually feel extremely left out even though everyone has to work very hard for bio homework. Why don't I get to work hard??? I will next year, though. And if I get into gifted and orchestra, I'll have 8 classes with gifted math and english added to my schedule. I already have gifted science because the gifted people are all in bio. Bio bio bio bio bio... I'm starting to hate biology. It has never directly made my life happier.
Mei, I thank you very much for putting my name in my blog. I feel so special again!!!!!!! You're one of the only two people who consistantly reads my blog, and there's one other person who does but doesn't very often because she gets to do bio homework instead -.- So unfair. I have to do Bio in sophomore year! I would've NEVER anticipated such bad luck in 8th grade.

Pretty please with a Wii on top?

I know this is REALLY random(and so is the title), but here's my favorite poem.

Smart
By: Shel Silverstein
My dad gave me one dollar bill
'Cause I'm his smartest son,
And I swapped it for two shiny quarters
'Cause two is more than one!
And then I took the quarters
And traded them to Lou
For three dimes-I guess he don't know
That three is more than two!
Just then, along came old blind Bates
And just 'cause he can't see
He gave me four nickels for my three dimes,
And four is more than three!
And I took the nickels to Hiram Coombs
Down at the seed-feed store,
And the fool gave me five pennies for them,
And five is more than four!
And then I went and showed my dad,
And he got red in the cheeks
And closed his eyes and shook his head-
Too proud of me to speak!

We took the Dostal/Nunn tests today. Algebra 2 and below took Nunn, Pre-calc and above took Dostal.
Diana and I thought we failed. William did wonderfully like always. Ryan was pretty confident when he realized that the only person who did better than him was William, and also since I couldn't've done better than him at all ^^. June left in the middle of it, so I don't think he got a 120... Lol. Jack drew food on his test again. Shuyao was miserable and I felt really, really bad for her. But she disputed against William and was correct! :D
So.... Today, I've proven that Diana is better at math than me. See, Ryan did better than me on the Nunn test, and Diana beat Ryan at Rickards. See? Valid proof. Hehe. All of it is true.

SAJAG (Society Against Jack Acting Ghetto)

Here are some random events that took place at the Rickards Preseasonal. As I was writing the post that day, I managed to leave out a lot.At the auditorium for the first time:First thing my "cousin" said after Diana ecstatically introduced us and had listed all reasons why she thought we were related: "Hi, June."The tests:We all seriously realized that we really needed to learn how to find the constant term of an expansion. Or was it just me?Disputing for Algebra 2 Individual:Ryan decided that if he couldn't think of a wonderful way to dispute a problem, the answer would be to crumple up the half-sheet of paper and chuck it at Diana. Then, he told me to throw it away. So I did, because I also had other garbage to abandon at Rickards. Later, as Diana was "retaking" the test by "reliving" it by "recreating" it by talking about all the problems she missed, she realized that the problem he had crumpled up was actually seriously flawed. She started freaking out like crazy- even more than she already was.Lunch:I went over to the table with Jack, June, Ryan, and William. I had ordered a mango smoothie. Then, Shuyao came over with a strawberry smoothie. Ryan asked my why I got a yellow smoothie and not a red one (like Shuyao's) because red is better. I said, "Red and yellow- what do you get when you put them together?"Ryan innocently asked, "Green?" I immediately started laughing, and about 5 seconds later, he said, "Oh, wait- no- orange! Wait, why do you want to make orange?" Shuyao and I looked at him, thinking, "Wow- he's slooow." About minute later, I took out my wallet and showed him the Chinese flag.At the auditorium during the awards ceremony:It actually took a while for all of pre-algebra to be announced. From the end of pre-algebra to geometry, June started doing the Seminole chop. Jack said, "NO!!!" and started doing his Gator thing. As an onlooker, it seemed like June was trying to slice Jack open as Jack frantically made jaw movements with his arms. Diana said, "Stop it, you guys! I'm serious!! STOP!!" They didn't listen.
This morning: I asked how she managed to make former team captain number 2 disappear both from the scoring list and from MAO practice yesterday and she just said, "Kejiiiiiing!"She thought I'd actually found his allergies or blown him up or something. I just congratulated her, since I certainly hadn't done anything. When we got to school, I retrieved my trophies from my locker because Mr. F told me to show Mr. S. So I went there. Oh great. He hadn't come to work yet. So we walked back to put the trophies back and yes, Mr. S was at school.Yesterday, I'd brought them and he wasn't there. The whole thing is stupid. Sorry, Diana, David, Jack, William, Ryan, Shuyao, Sonal's math teacher. I was so impatient that I remembered when David saw them and immediately asked me if I was going to make them into bombs, and pondered over it, but Diana informed me of how bad of an idea was, so I just said, "Fine..."
It seems like Diana is the only one who reads this blog. I should put stuff she doesn't know on here. Let's see...
At the auditorium not too long after our group of loud people met up with each other:My stomach started feeling horrible, and no one truly cared except Sonal, so she showed me where the bathroom was.Sonal: I hope this is the woman's one.We walk right in front of it. Sonal: Yes! Me: Thank you so much!! Me: Um... I can't open the door. Sonal tries. Me: I think it's locked...x.xBut my stomach felt better after I walked around a bit, thankfully, or I might've gotten a lower score than June. Which is saying something, because he got something like a 3 and a -9. In the beginning of the school year, he told me his lowest was an 11 or something. He laughed, but I didn't. He realized I didn't know how MAO scores were scored. He told me. I felt sorry for him. Well, now his record is a -9!Record lowest, that is.Later, I went back (before the awards ceremony), and it wasn't locked anymore.
I'll add more if I think of them. For now, it's off to wash the dishes and then practice piano.

math tutoring- tues. and wed. in the irc

Today was my first day of math tutoring. When I arrived after school to the IRC, I waited for about 15 minutes for the math teacher to come. I ended up helping some person with Algebra 2. He was in Mr. F's Honors/Gifted class. So unfair. I won't be tutoring tomorrow since Algebra 2 MAO meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I don't think Mr. F would be too happy if I just... Didn't show up.
But helping people with something you really like is fun ^^. And no one needs help with piano.
We have a test on earthquakes tomorrow in science. I find that insulting. We did earth/space topics in 7th grade. And our stuff was harder and more work, too. According to my current teacher, our textbooks are at an 11th and 12th grade level. I find this hard to believe. But if it's supposed to be that difficult, no wonder the US is completely useless when it comes to education. And they only have good universities and colleges because they have the money to BUY all the best professors and materials and campuses and maintenence.
Yesterday, I found out how to write my last name in traditional Chinese. That was interesting. I can't believe I never learned it. It looks odd with two tian2's, though.
Wow, this post and the last post are so boring. Sorry about that and the fact that you wasted your valuable homework time to read this.
I don't have any really good news to share right now, except for the fact that I don't think I'm extremely hungry right now! *proud*
Oh right- we used bioelectrical impedence or however you spell it in Personal Fitness today to measure our body percent fat. I got about 20%. Which is interesting. I think my hands were supposed to hold the machine tighter because it measures how quickly the electricity goes through you... And I kind of moved my arms (a lot) so it probably effected the number even more. Oops. Ah well- even 20% is healthy, so I don't think I have to worry.

a pathetic sonata

I have a new piano piece- the first movement of Beethoven's "Pathetique" Sonata! I'm SO happy!!! It is such a famous piece and I'm really thankful that my teacher thinks I have a chance ^^.
My weekend was pretty cool :D. It's hard to come by these happy times since I'm neither here nor there...
Wow.. I haven't solved my Rubik's Cube for a while now. I think it was because two of the blue squares completely came off so they look white, except I went over it with blue Sharpie so it's still dark blue but it's a bit off, and the texture of the color just isn't replaceable.
I can't wait until school tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! We have MAO practice on Mondays and Wednesdays!!!!!!!!!!!!

piano recital tomorrow and i haven't practiced all day

I'm using the fact that newer posts go at the top to my advantage.
If you're going to read my extremely long "Dispute Everything." post, you should know this before you read the thing:
When I was taking the tests, I did about half and then guessed on the rest. I'm not kidding. Yes, I guessed. Mr. F's shocked face when I told him that was pretty scary. He looked almost mad. It wasn't the best thing to do... Heh heh.....
And don't you say "whatever" because it's true. So, I don't see how the whole thing turned out the way it did.
And the Rickards Algebra II team sure is weird... No one could beat the four at team or individual. If you read the post, you'll get more soporific details about that and the rest of my day.

Dispute Everything.

Today was the James S. Rickards High School Preseason Invitational.
We all got there at about 8:00am. I arrived at the bottom of the school (because it was built on a big hill) and saw Mr. F walking nearby. We waited until he and an older kid walked back with a few boxes of Krispy Kremes, and walked up to the auditorium. Directions to get to the auditorium were something along these lines: " Walk up some stairs, and after a while, walk up some more stairs, and some more stairs, and when you get higher up, walk up some more stairs, and when you're finally at the top of the school, walk up a flight of stairs to walk up some stairs."
Yeah. I hate stairs now.
We arrived at the auditorium, and everyone for Algebra 2 kind of converged together as a group of people yelling at each other (like always :).
Shuyao kept trying to grab Diana's notebook because it had math notes from our practices, so Diana kept telling her it was her "Certamen" stuff. (Certamen is a Latin competition.)
Over half an hour later (or so it seemed), we finally got two hot pink pencils each to use for the scantron tests. I was handed two scantrons because I had to take the Theta Open test since I didn't get onto team 1. And there's only one team per school x.x
Everyone from Chiles walked out of the auditorium to a tiny area while Mr. F told us random useful information about the day.
THEN, it was off to the tests! Jack, June, and I walked towards the Theta Open rooms. There was an intricate wheelchair ramp next to a slightly-larger-than-normal flight of stairs. It basically went in a sort of zig-zag shape. They immmediately raced down it. I found that extremely odd.
Now, every time I see a ramp, I'll think of them running down that big, awkward one at Rickards. I walked down the stairs like a normal person.
When we arrived in a Theta Open classroom, for about 10 minutes, there were only Chiles people in the room, not including the proctors, of course.
Then, one Rickards kid and a whole group of Fairview Middle School kids (who will eventually be Rickards people) entered. We took the astonishingly difficult test, and left.
We arrived at the dispute room, and almost everyone disputed number one. This was because two line segments were given to be parallel, but one of the end points in one of the line segments didn't exist in the picture, so there wasn't enough information to determine the answer.
There were geometry problems because it was Theta Open- the test we all take since we're not on team.
About team- each school had one team, so you had to be in the top 4 to not take Theta Open. During that time was Theta Team.
After disputes, we marched right back to the 400 building to take the next test- Algebra II Individual. Individual was more difficult because this was the one that everyone took. So the team people did it too.
This test was a bit more difficult than the astonishingly impossible Theta Open test.
Then, we went back to the dispute room to dispute everything. Yes, that's my math motto: "Dispute Everything."
A sophomore at Chiles told me that she saw all these high schoolers who had a LOT of dispute forms and were bascially disputing everything. She thought it was Lincoln High School. I now have a sort of respect for them.
Right before Individual, this guy from the Lincoln team told me that they only scored 2 points. And Rickards got TWENTY-NINE points!!! Apparently, since Rickards wrote the tests... It wasn't too fair...
Chiles placed 3rd with 7 points. Yes, a measily 7. It wasn't their fault, though. There were all these types of unknown permutations that could never exist in a textbook and other odd things.
2nd place was Seminole High School with a few more than 7.
Diana told me that they got the distinct permutations question correct and that she said "Kejing taught me that!" when she saw it. I was incredibly happy that I actually kind of indirectly helped the Chiles team!
For lunch, the sophomore and her mom took Diana, Shuyao and me to Governor's Square Mall where we ordered food from Tropical Smoothie Cafe because it had the shortest line. Actually, when Shuyao and I got there, there was no line ^^.
When we got back, we walked back up the amazingly copious amount of stairs to go to the dreaded auditorium again. We sat there for... Let's see... What felt like an hour (and yes, literally an hour).
Diana kept saying, "OH NO!!! I DID HORRIBLY!", Shuyao wanted to kill herself, my stomach felt extremely nervous but I was actually just mad at myself for being so stupid so I don't know how it could've been nervous (no comment from you, Diana), Ryan just sat there, William tried to make Diana feel better (which didn't work, in case you're wondering), David came late and sat down, June told Diana to "shut up", and Jack was hungry. No suprise there.
FINALLY, some guy (probably principal of RHS) welcomed everyone. He mentioned something about "excellent math students". Diana, June, and William started coughing. :D It was pretty hilarious, but we couldn't really laugh out loud because we were supposed to be quiet and listening.
By then, everyone had a very basic idea of what they scored on the tests because after we had handed in the scantrons, we were given the answers so we could dispute (everything- lol). We all had an idea of how we compared to each other. Except me. I was so weird that I simply did not calculate my score. I also didn't circle all the questions I "bubbled in" on the scantron, so there was no way of calculating it even if I had all the answers on my Individual test.
First- Pre-algebra individual was announced. Then, team. Then, Open.
Next- Geometry. Same order.
And then, of course, Algebra II. Notice how individual is announced first. So, basically, the people who scored in the top ten for Algebra II Individual had to go onto the stage first.
Well, this is the scary part.
They called my name first.
I'm not even kidding.
I actually didn't get up until Diana was like, "KEJING! THEY CALLED YOUR NAME!!!"
I was in shock.
ME????? How could I place????
When I got back down, June said they (meaning our group of friends) did the wave. I didn't see them because I was in such great shock.
Even later after that, Diana said that the guy who has to do with the grenades *explosion* was one of the first people to stand up for me when they announced my name and gave me my trophy or something like that.
I got 6th place for Algebra II Individual. Five Rickards people beat me.
For team, William, Ryan, Diana, and Shuyao (in order of how they scored at school when we took the test to get into team) went up. They got the 3rd place trophy!!!! :D
Then, they announced Theta Open. Diana said, "You probably won that one."
I got 2nd place in that, much to the dismay of some people from Chiles because I heard "sad" noises coming from that direction of the mass of haleconia-colored t-shirts.
Again, a Rickards person beat me. She said "good job" as I walked past her to get off the stage, which was really nice of her =)
Next was Pre-calc. Carolyn got 2nd place, which was extremely shocking and sad and I felt really sorry for her because everyone says that she always wins.
Then, Calculus. No suprise there. I don't know how the class of 2010 is going to live up to them.
I didn't rememember there being Stats. I just don't remember.
For Sweepstakes (highest average score, or t-score which is more accurate, for each school). I think Chiles got 3rd. As the president and vice-president went up, Jack also stood up until June whispered (loudly), "SIT DOWN!"
After the awards ceremony, Mr. F called us towards him so he could tell us that we have to beat Buschholz (#1 in the state or something) when we go to Gainseville in December. I think it was December. I'm pretty sure... I think.
Then, a group picture was taken of all the CHILES MAO people.
We talked for a while until Mr. F pulled out the list for Algebra II Individual. I was looking at with, standing behind Diana because she's pretty short. My dad suddenly appeared out of no where, so Mr. F talked to him for about 10 seconds. Then, I left, walking down the "infinite staircase" to go back to the parking lot and go home.
My mom and brother were in the car, waiting for me. They were quite suprised.
The first thing my brother said to me when he saw my trophies was, "Can I have one?"

The Downfall of Relish-fil-A

The story below is based on a short story I heard in 8th grade. I rewrote it, making it better and more difficult to read. And yes, I'm the Chief Executive Officer of Gator-fil-A.
As CEO of Gator-fil-A, I decided to create relish because it was the most random condiment we could think of. One day, after the 10th anniversary of the founding of my company, I visited my most faithful customer's house. He had a jar of Relish-fil-A. I asked him why the jar was so big. He decided to tell me a story...Once, there was a guy who had a wife. Oh wow. How interesting. Okay, I'll start the story. One day, the wife mysteriously disappeared. A lot of neighbors thought she had run off with someone else, but no one was sure. There was no evidence of this, so the evil police officers decided to acuse the man of murder. They needed proof. So, they spied on the guy for six months. Yeah, real law-abiding, huh?Every day, he would come out of his house to his garden to chop his trees down. Chop, chop, chop, hack, hack, hack. Every day, one more tree would fall down. Then, he took all of the wood into his house. The wood never came back out.During he second month, he chopped down two trees per day. Chop, chop, chop, hack, hack, hack, chop, chop, chop, hack, hack, hack.During the third month, he chopped down three trees per day. Chop, chop, chop, hack, hack hack, chop, chop, whack, hack, hack, hack. That is all they heard. The police thought this was quite odd. Again, the wood never came back out. Smoke would always rise from his chimney.Sometimes, the guy would leave his property to go and buy vegetables including broccoli, lettuce, and cauliflower. Oh yeah- and relish. My Relish-fil-A was very popular back then, but not any more.Yeah, that was random. So, um. Let's see... What happened next? Oh yeah. He died some time during the end of six months. How did they know? Because one morning, as he was walking outside to chop 6 trees for the day, he collapsed, shivered for a few minutes, and they watched as he screeched, yelling three words. So since he was dead, the police all marched right to his house, entered excitedly(remember, they didn't have a warrant because they had no proof), and found something weird in the chimney. Was it hair? No, the guy didn't have brown hair. He was blonde. Huh. *sarcasm:* Well that was an interesting story. This is when my wonderful Gator-fil-A customer looked at me funny. I guess this was the end of the story. He said, "Do you want to know what those three words were? You know, the police never heard exactly what they were. They were busy eating breakfast. But I did. I was there, passing by."Me: Hey, don't look at me like that! You're pretty creppy-looking.I found out what those three words were.He had said, "I killed her."That's why Relish-fil-A lost it's popularity.

let's clear things up...

I AM NOT SMART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Susan: Diana is a Chinese girl(out of a total of four Chinese girls including me) at my school. She bet me 50 million dollars that she wouldn't become valedictorian. I bet her 50 million dollars that she would. Then, since she is SO INCREDIBLY nice, she changed her bet to thinking that I will become valedictorian. This demonstrates how deliriously nice she is.

YYRYYRRRR

The pattern for a Chinese flag on a standard 3x3 Rubik's cube from left to right and top to bottom ^^.

I'm going to fail the SATs so much...

50th Post!

I know I'm weird. At least I'm Asian.

Everyone needs to convince Diana that she is smarter than me.
U kin doo dths leeving uh commynt and say sow.

Standard materials for a grenade:
-iron pipe with threaded ends, 1.5-3" diameter and 3-8" inches long
-two iron pipe caps
-explosive or propellant (special fertilizer?)
-non-electric commercial or military blasting cap
-fuse cord
-hand drill
-pliers

Um... All I have so far is the hand drill and pliers. I guess I could just improvise with other materials, but testing it to make it the most effective would take more than two days. I need one on Wednesday.

you're schizo and you know it

I never had the time to measure the volume of my backpack.
Diana has a humongous backpack, though. She could fit many more grenades.
To answer your questions, the reason I'm talking about explosive devices is because people just need to be (hypothetically but not really) blown up these days. *sigh*
I wish Mr. F would allow me to be team captain. Then I wouldn't need to find SOMEONE'S allergies...

Remember the nursery rhyme?
Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of Albert.

Speaking of UF, it's interesting how the layout of the page where you write a post is blue and orange. Google needs to rethink their design. Or Jack could get a blog and call it "fate".

FSU vs. UF

Well, for some reason, I published this, but no words showed up.
Okay. About FSU vs. UF. It is the oddest rivalry I've every seen, considering how it's WITHIN a state. People need to decide already. For now, we can continue sticking "Gator-fil-A" stickers on the proctors' back when we visit Gainesville for MAO or Certamen competitions. Certamen is a Latin competition so I won't be there, but the future valedictorian of CHS, class of 2010 *cough* DIANA *COUGH* can do that for me.

By the way, I estimate that you could fit about 50 hand grenades in a backpack. I plan to actually find out the exact number today.

MAO test

I mentioned a 5 million dollars that Diana owes me in a recent post.
This means that she doesn't have to pay me all at once, since she also owes me an additional $5 for when we get back our Algebra II MAO practice tests at she gets a higher score! :D
Grand total: $50,000,005.00

mysterious envelope 6/2006

Stolen from Connie at 8th-grade-end-of-the-year field trip at Governor Dodge State Park. Google "Neal Wu" if you're interested.

I will be rich! Very rich.

Most Chinese people realize that four is a very bad number. This is because if you change the tone from 4 to 3, it turns into "die." I will now quickly add another post so Gmail doesn't tell me to "die^2" when I log into blogger. ^^ I'm weird.

I finished To Kill a Mockingbird yesterday. I don't know how I managed to get through it all.
Tomorrow, the CHS Algebra II people will be taking a "practice" test so the teacher can get an idea of who'll be on the team. Diana, you probably don't want to bet against your highly proficient skill in math because you need all the money you can save for when you give me $5,000,000 when you become valedictorian.

Yesterday, my dad said I could buy a car (because we were passing by a car junkyard) with my money (about $100). Then, my mom said I could probably only buy some tires. I clarified this by saying that I could buy about one and a half tires. So by senior year, I'll be able to buy 75,001.5 tires. Yes, I know, I'm already thinking about how I could possibly spend all the money. Diana, if you want, you could just give me 70,000 tires if you don't have $5,000,000 to spare.

Here is the picture I was talking about. It makes me so sad because it's so happy, but see, the lighting makes it "in the past" like you're looking back at it (well obviously). I can't explain it. And it took an incredible amount of time to load on to Blogger.

FLVS

I signed up for FLVS, and I'm going to take World History Honors in January 2007 if there's an opening, which there probably will be since no one takes World History online.
There is a left-hand-side link area just like many other websites in this world.
I was extremely bored, and highlighted it. To my amazement and schizophrenia, there were white letters (meaning you can't see it unless you type it) right under the rest of the words. It was "fvcvsa01". I don't know what this means or who put it there. All I know is that I'm NOT schizo.
I didn't talk to a brick pole that had "feelings" today. *cough* Diana *cough*

Chick-fil-A, a fast-food place is very popular here. You may remember it from the cows who carry around signs saying, "Eat Chikin." Well, since FSU and UF are rivals and the University of Florida (or FU, whatever it happens to be) has gators for the mascot, yesterday, I used my Avery address labels with Microsoft Publisher to make "Gator-fil-A" stickers. I was so proud. I even made the words garnet and added a goldenrod border to them. But the Badgers are still the best no matter what anyone says. However, you must remember that China rules all.

MAO

I feel stupid. I don't know how to find the number of factors a number has. The answer's something like 50 or 60...
And then, there's these problems in which they give you a polynomial with a LOT of terms and you have to figure out the roots- negative real, positive real, etc.
And, of course, there's those random problems that look at how lucky you are to know how to do them.
Everything makes an extra turn, so you MUST use your brain.
I don't have much of a brain, so I don't know what I'll do. Fail, I guess.
I must go practice math because I havent for a very long time. I'll probably end up doing something completely different. Like printing out the Spanish quiz that I need... Heh. Let me revise that:
I must now go and print out the 4.3 Spanish quiz, and then, if I have time, (yeah right) I will go and practice math.

MF

About Mozilla Firefox...
I have found some problems that I don't understand:
When you have a browser, at the bottom of your screen, it's on the toolbar thing for your desktop. If you click on the button that corresponds to said browser, it should minimize. MF doesn't.
Also, it won't get tot the front of the browsers if I have more than one. Could this be because Internet Explorer is my default browser? Perhaps not.
In addition to that, Internet Explorer is better for unreliable stolen wireless. The Gmail chat stayed connected on IE, but not MF when the wireless signal got worse.
However, I do like the tabs in MF a lot. It's very, very organized. But you can't see them at the same time unless you have another browser.

I can't wait until my AoPS books come!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mozilla Firefox

I downloaded Mozilla Firefox 2.0 today(11/12/06) because by some miraculous turn of events, I managed to get a hold of an open wireless signal. First time in ages.
Mozilla Firefox isn't extremely different. However, everything isn't as neat and simple as Internet Explorer. The Bookmark Toolbar is pretty cool, though. It's a toolbar that has all the websites you want, so all you have to do is click on one of them. That's probably my favorite thing about this whole program. Well, now the miraculous wireless signal has disappeared... -.-

i saw the gulf of mexico

My family and I visited St. George Island State Park today. The sand was so white and smooth, and there were an incredible amount of small seashells.
What greatly suprised me was the condition of the park. The restroom building was very new, and the restroom was really, really nice. It was the opposite of the parks in Door County, WI. But WI is still better.
There was a nine-mile long bridge that connected the U.S. to the island. It took about 20 years to build, I think.
Tomorrow is my first Chamber rehearsal- 9:00 to 10:30 am!
I really need to practice math now... There's no way I'm getting on the team if I keep procrastinating.

bored

I'm having trouble thinking of anything to type.
But I wrote an Ode to Food today describing (someone else's, for once) obsession with food. I printed copies to give to three people at school.
I looked at our end-of-the-year 8th grade pictures from Governor Dodge State Park. It was extremely depressing. There was one picture with Connie, Francesca, Rose, and Sharon, and it was a side picture of them sitting on a bench and the whole thing was kind of dark you could see the outlines of some of their laughing faces... Good times :) I miss them and everyone else!

doomed

Yes, I am officially in deep trouble. It all started when I found I was going to CHS. It's been all exponentially downhill from there.
I have come to a big dilemma(can't spell) that I can't really solve unless I take one of my future courses on FLVS, which doesn't sound too great because all of these are big classes. Well not that big. Just... Not good to do online.
I want to take:
AP Stats
Pre-Calc
Bio
Chem
English II
World History
Spanish
However, I also want to take AP Psych. Although I'll be lucky if I can in sophomore year. The thing is, I'll only have one AP class. This will definitely not prepare me for what I want to take for junior year:
AP Calc
AP Chem
AP Lang
AP American History
AP Psych
Spanish
Physics
Yeah... not a smooth transition. Here's senior year:
AP Calc (maybe)
AP Physics
AP Lit
AP Macroeconomics/AP American Government
AP Bio
Spanish
Something else
I'm not saying these are my final decisions. It's something like that, though. Unfortunately for me, everyone says that they aren't offering AP World History anymore. I guess that's my main problem. Also, I can't take AP Euro since I need to fufill the requirement- world history and other requirements that I will be fullfilling(still can't spell) in junior and senior year.
I can't stand this!!!!!!!! *throws grenade at something living*

Books

My recent favorite books:
Artemis Fowl: The Lost Colony by Eoin Colfer
The End By Lemony Snicket
Beginning Programming for Dummies by Wallace Wang

The Artemis Fowl books are probably my favorite of all time.

The End wasn't exactly an end, but it was pretty good. I liked Ink. There is also a book (I think this is the name), The Beatrice Letters. It's pretty cool. I got it from the library before The End.

I wrote a few more simple programs with QBASIC, but the thing is, it's only really fun if you can watch someone actually use it. Using it by myself is kind of boring, particularly because I wrote them. So, I my brother did them. One of them claimed that he owed money by raising the input number to the 5th power, and then adding one so the answer wouldn't be $0. Another one talked about Asians... Heh.

Chamber Orchestra

YES! I got into the first violin section of Chamber Orchestra!!!!! Heh... It's like... the equivalent of Concert/Phil in Madison. But one of the excerpts was really, really hard. I completely messed up the other one.

On Friday, my dad took me to the rehab center at FSU.
Don't worry- it was because the Psychology Clinic is in the rehab center.
We each had to fill out multiple forms. Then, they put me in a room with this guy who asked me random questions. The first one was, "Have you ever wanted to hurt yourself?" Then, my dad came into the room to finish up the questionnaire. Finally, I was in another room all by myself, taking a true/false questions. There were over 320 questions, as far as I can remember. They were all psychological. Some of them were things like, "Is your teacher trying to do you in?", "Is your father a good man?", "Do you love your father?", "Is your mother a good woman?", "Do you love your mother?", "Is someone trying to do you in?", "Is someone following you?", "Are you possessed by evil spirits?", "Do you like school?", "Do you count things such as the number of light bulbs on a sign even though there is no point?"
The related questions were spaced apart so that every 50 questions or so, you would find very similar questions, such as the "do you in" ones.
In both rooms, there was a huge window on the left wall. I think they were those special one-way windows. Very creepy.
Also, the guy asked me if I wanted to hurt someone. I had to say no, but by then, I was thinking about hand-grenading the junior... Then, during the true/false test, a very similar question came up. I had to lie...
I'm going to take an IQ test eventually, but I don't think my parents have used the two phone numbers I gave them yet... I really hope I make it into the Gifted program! This is my last chance!

My parents are out grocery shopping. I should've asked my mom to get ring pops. However, that probably wouldn't've been a very good idea.

I got the programming book from the library today AND The End!!!!!!!!!! Today was such a great day! I wrote my first computer program today with QBASIC which I got from the Windows 98 CD that we still have from our old computer. It is awesome. I just hope this isn't one of those obsessions that I'll quickly lose interest in, though, because I really need to decide on a major for college.

Irony

I had a 108 in math. Next, I got a 100 on my test. Then, I got a 100 on my homework. Lastly, I got 100 on my homework. My grade went DOWN!!! For being perfect, too. It was sad. It happens to me a lot, too. You can look at it like you got a 98 and you made 90's on a lot of things, but a 100 isn't bad at all, so that's what makes the whole thing seem so weird.

I have the TSYO audition tomorrow... In approximately 14 hours and 8 minutes.

I'm really unhappy about how the AP classes at Chiles are really difficult, but the 9th grade classes are so incredibly easy that they are all teaching middle school stuff. It is also weird how many AP classes cannot be taken before junior year, such as Psychology! I really want to take Psychology now, but I must wait during two more agonizing years of easy classes. Only two other freshmen at Chiles actually know how I feel. Everyone else is either completely stupid, superficial, or both.

14 hours and 5 more minutes...

It's so difficult to be nervous

because you can't function properly. During my lifetime, I have been nervous the most often during piano performances. Once, I could see my hands shaking because I was so nervous. I didn't do too well at that recital...

Tomorrow morning's my gifted screening. I am way too nervous about it. Mainly because I know I'm going to fail it because it's really difficult, especially by high school, since intelligence tests are calculated by age. Too bad WI didn't have a gifted program.

Now, my some of friends know the guy I want to bomb. They hate him too, but (unfortunately) don't think of grenades every time they see him. They don't think of hacking, either. For me, his name automatically triggers both thoughts simutaneously.

I still don't have anything happy to post. But za4-ing that one guy up is kind of happy, I guess.

Does anyone know where you can buy ring pops? I haven't seen those things for ages, and I'll need them in approximately 1o years.

happy-ish thoughts

I typed this on the other laptop(which is the only other computer possible) with Notepad, so I'm going to type really quickly so there's going to be more mistakes than usual unless I happen to be very weird and accurate today.

List of happy things I can say about my life
1. I'm not dead. ut if I were, I wouldn't e able to say this. So it really isn't that special. But it's happy! In a morbid way...
2. Two people read my blog.
3. I have more than enough basic neccesities to keep me alive.
4. My brother isn't big enough to beat me up.
5. My school has AP classes. Yay...
6. I'm getting enough wireless signal to load Google.com.
7. I have friends.
8. I have nice school supplies.
9. I'm Asian AND Chinese.
10. I have a piano and violin.
11. I'm hopefully going to get that programming book from the library- finally!
12. The bus comes early every morning now. Except I get home later. But it still gets to school early. Too early.
13. I'm still not dead.

Oh, look- another depressing post. The point of the whole list was to find myself happy things to say in posts, emails, chats, etc., but obviously, it didn't work too well.
The gifted test and orchestra auditions quickly being closer to the present really isn't helping.

Grenades

To Diana: Does "grenades" count? Or are you just counting "grenade"? I would think you'd count both, right?

THANKS EVERYONE FOR READING MY BLOG! I know I've said this way too much, but I really do feel special when it happens. Except not everyone reads my blog. I really should be more clear when I write/type.

Uh... Sorry Jack. But I really don't care if it's "University of Florida" or "Florida University"or even "Gator-fil-a". I personally like "Gator-fil-a", though. There. That's my new name for the university. I'm going to use it tomorrow if the opportunity arrives. Badgers rule.

Not that Jack reads this.

Today, someone said that table tennis was retarded. I glared at him. During that very angered moment, I also wished I had a grenade to throw at him. I'm not kidding. Of course, the whole 1-second day dream was hypothetical. Right now, I can just imagine someone reading this and going, "Suuuuure."

The Beginner's Programming for Dummies book or whatever it's called has arrived at the Northeast Branch!!! I plan to get it on Saturday.
Wow... the cursor just randomly moved northeast for over five seconds, and I couldn't gain control over it! I was typing before that, and my hand wasn't touching the touchpad. La vispera de los santos causes odd things to happen.

la vispera de los santos

I have an 11% range in my grades... It's funny how bad that sounds.
Ironically, it's because I have a 108 and 1/3% in math thanks to the 10% extra credit on one of our latest tests. Unfortunately, the 100's lower it... Oh well.
Today in science, we got back our Chapter 6 tests. The teacher told us that we could correct them and get partial credit because everyone flunked it so badly(except in nicer words!) and that she normally doesn't do stuff like that. Later, I heard her (yeah, I was eavesdropping) talking to one of the girls, saying she couldn't curve our grades because someone got an 101%. Hehehe... I felt kind of bad. For once, my grade affected other people. However, if I'd gotten a 99%, no one's grades would've gone up very much. So, It would probably have been better for everyone if I'd flunked it.

Milky Way Midnight's are nice. They include two of my favorite foods- dark chocolate and marshmallows.

The cookie dough sale for MAO started and I feel bad about that, too. I can't really sell any. I mean, I CAN, but I'm too lazy. And busy. I still have to balance piano, violin, and math. Math has pretty much disappeared from the list of what I do every day outside of school.

Someone told me that a group of kids plan to drive around tonight and throw water balloons at the little kids. I hope they don't hit my brother... *makes extra grenades* I won't be there, though. *teaches brother how to throw grenades*

Pianos are awesome.

If you can't figure out what "epsieanniihsct" means from the title of this post, then I pity you.

For my make-up work for this Friday in Personal Fitness, I wrote a page on the history of table tennis. I never knew it was invented by the upper class Victorians in England.
I've felt stupid all day, though.
In MAO, I actually forgot to take my home my math textbook until I left the building. Then, I had to wait until the guy who I want to za4 to open the door because they're locked automatically at 4:00pm because he was the next person going to the door.
I did not have a very good day.

Then, as I was emailing my Wisconsin friends, they were all depressed except rzuee.

I dread the end of this week.

TSYO

I completely forgot to go on the internet all weekend. It really isn't like me.

Today was the TSYO concert, and at around 5:00pm, we all walked into Opperman Music Hall and played "Arioso" and "Tumbleweed". And I got to be the concertmaster! YAY! Except it really wasn't that great. Phil is the 2nd to worst (3rd to best) orchestra, and it's really easy to do well. Plus, at my age, I should be in Symphony. Oops.
I wore my mom's black shoes because mine are about the same size. Meaning I had gigantic shoes either way, and I used my mom's because they were nicer and more comfortable. They kept falling off as I walked... I'm still thankful it didn't happen on stage! After we played our pieces and walked out, my standpartner told me that everyone in the 1st violin section was really off during "Tumbleweed". I never notice those things at concerts. In fact, I don't really notice anything around me when I play at concerts, which isn't the greatest idea since I kind of have to look at the conductor.

This Saturday, I'm auditioning for Chamber(3rd worst/2nd best TSYO)! I'm SO excited about it, because I really want to get in!
This Friday is my gifted screening/test, and I really want to get into Gifted, too!
I'm going to develop about fifty canker sores if I keep stressing about everything. (And that's something, because I don't think I've ever gotton one.)
TWO big "tests" in one week really isn't good for me.

I imagined the explosion again :D

To Mei: Oh no, we're definitely not fighting. I barely communicate with the guy. He just gets on my nerves by being anywhere near me whether it's five feet or thousands of miles. As soon as I "knew" him for the first time, I couldn't stand him. He's just that kind of person. These people are quite rare. Unfortunately for me, I have to be in the same classroom as him twice a week because of MAO.

I feel so stupid... I don't know how to add square roots and cube roots together. In fact, I don't know how to do 1/3 of the problems in the study book we got. They are all past tests. I'm going to fail every single competition I go to...
At the Chiles Invitational, Deerlake Middle School will very, very likely be there. Diana says she'll find my "cousin". I hope she does! I must know more about blowing people up and hacking into peoples' computers and other things. Then, I can get into Jack's (a guy who has blue and orange colored braces for the Gator colors) computer and change his wallpaper to the Seminoles and rename all his documents and folders "I LOVE FSU" or "SEMINOLES ARE BETTER THAN THE GATORS" or "GATOR-FIL-A". That would be fun. And, I would change anything possible to garnet or gold. I am not exactly an FSU fan myself, but for all of you Wisconsinites, FSU and FU are very big rivals. (Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL and Florida University which is in Gainsville, FL.)
When the moving men came to our house in WI, they told me to support the Gators and when we got to Tallahassee, asked me if I was going to Florida State or Florida. I hesitated because I didn't want to go to either school, so he answered for me, saying "Florida, right?"
If I had to decided between FSU and FL, I'd probably pick FSU simply because the music department at FSU is very good, particularly the piano department. I love piano.

a little bit schizo in a good way

I keep imagining blowing him up with my very own hand-made grenade. It's getting to the point where I feel like it's really happening, but the vision is far from detailed. It's just of in the distance, and BOOM. I don't know why I feel so violent. I blame it on him.

On a much lighter note, the TSYO concert is this Sunday at around 5 pm, I think. I'm the worst concertmaster ever. I should make it clear that no one in their right mind should follow me if they get lost no matter how "good" I seem to be at the easiest music ever. But I don't have to walk up after everyone else sits down, so I won't have to worry about tripping or something weird like that. UGH I hate puns!!!!! I try to ignore them, but it's not hard to notice them.

I imagined it again.
And again. I just want him to disappear.

It'll be interesting to find out the valedictorians/salutatorians of the classes of '08 and '10. Very interesting. One of the class of 2010 told me that "interesting" is "my word" because I say it a lot since I found almost everything interesting.
Things I find interesting: video games, computer programming(although I have no knowledge of it as of now), grenades, any other bombs, nuclear fission and fussion, the fact that I really don't sound like a girl as I make this list, Rubik's Cubes, piano, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, violins(particularly Strads and other nice violins), celli, factoring, MAO in general, computers, laptops, Zhong1 Guo2, etc.
Things I don't find interesting: golf, football, US History(it was luck all the way in my opinion), etc.

Taking gifted test @ FSU on 11/3/06

Haven't you ever wanted to blow someone up? (Yeah, I ended with a sentence wiht a preposition.. Ooooh.) I'm not kidding. David was talking about my "cousin"(who I still have to meet) and his grenade obsessions, and I was just thinking... Hmmm... That wouldn't be too hard to make! Now, who do I want to blow up? Oh! I know! That one junior who goes up to me randomly and I wanna stab him SO hard and take out his pituitary gland and amygdala. If you know what those are, which you do, I don't need to explain. I said stab because it would be faster.
If I took out his frontal lobe, there wouldn't be much of a difference so I won't even bother.
Don't worry- I'm fully aware of how violent I sound. All of this is hypothetical, as far as I know. Those last five words weren't very reassuring, were they?

It seems like my former group of friends has split apart because of me... Well not completely, of course! Just... A lot. I wonder what happened to Bryna...
Suprisingly, "love pentagons" occur very often, not just in one state.

I'm going to get the "Dummy" book for beginning comp programming. It definitely made my day when I clicked "Request"! I'm so excited! The key to hacking is understanding computer languages, of course.

Awesome.

Today, I took a math quiz on boring functions and linear combination with three variables. Ugh. One of the questions was about writing a system in which a tortoise and a hare rematch (from the famous story, "The Tortoise and the Hare") and how the tortoise gets a 30 minute head start. And then, we had to find out when they are at the same place, and how far from the starting point would that be. It turned out to be some random two-digit number with something like 7/11, so it was basically like, yeah, at 42.2464646464 seconds, they were at the same place. I was very worried, because algebra problems usually have very normal numbers, such as 42. Or better yet, 50. Here I was, getting repeating decimals, and I was just thinking... well, WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?????!!! And then the teacher said, "Okay, hand your tests up." And I did. So much for that.
Then, I just checked OASIS, and I got a 110/100!!!!! I wasn't really listening when he was explaining the test before he started, but my mind usually pays attention when a teacher says "extra credit". I feel so happy right now. I guess it's little things in life like that that really makes life worth living :) Especially after moving away from all your friends right before high school... And it also helps if your calculator can solve systems of equations with 2 or 3 variables. But I didn't cheat! I did every little step and wrote it out because we had to show our work (obviously). I'm just saying, it's helpful...

I get the "Offical SAT Question of the Day" thing sent to me and I'm really failing the English... Stupid random vocab.

Does anyone actually read this?

This morning, it was freezing outside for anyone who had on a sweater, which was everyone... Then, by the afternoon, it was back to about 80 degrees. Crazy.

I got my report card for the first "nine weeks"!
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.25 because some of my stupid classes are even stupider (general), like Art and Spanish and Personal Fitness. Basically, half my classes, which makes sense, because honors classes are 4.5, and general are 4.0, so I'm right in the middle. I hate my classes.

I really need to get my Rubik's Cube time down. It's still a pathetic two minutes. I think. I actually haven't timed myself, but it's probably even higher, since I don't really go near it now.

I complain too much.

First of all, it is back to unbearable, humid, hot weather. It's OCTOBER. It shouldn't be happening to me. I'm used to walking along the sidewalks with dried, orange leaves everywhere, feeling the cool breeze as I smell the nice, autumn air.
The day before yesterday, it was extremely muggy, and rained, and the next day, it was STILL humid! After it rains, the world is supposed to feel better. Not here.
I must find time for math, piano, violin, and homework. Unfortunately, I want to do at least an hour per day of the first three, but I'm not sure if it's possible. Plus, I procrastinate for hours each day, and I'm typing this. I sound just like any other stereotypical Asian- math, classical music, homework, parents who are never satisfied...

I took the PSAT yesterday. The first and third parts were critical reading. I did all the problems because I wanted to know how low my score would go if I answered everything. I'm obviously not a junior... The second and fourth parts were awesome. Math, of course. The fifth part was surprisingly easy, compared to how this one guy described it. I probably failed it anyways. The person next to me kept finishing amazingly quickly, but I later found out that it was because he didn't know any of the answers. He probably got a better score than me on the critical reading, though, thanks to the 1/4 point deduction for each incorrect answer, so you can't get lucky.

One more week until the strings concert! Being concertmaster gives you a nice feeling of power. It's happy, unlike a lot of the rest of my days here.

And now, I'm about to start on more past math tests in my study book. Notice how I said "start". You can infer from this that I can't actually finish any of the tests, being too stupid to understand how to add logs with different bases... *sigh*

1st Quarter Grades

Plgebra II honors: 100.14%
Personal fitness: 99%
English I honors: 98.8%
Spanish 2: 99%
Art 2D: 99.3%
Earth/space science honors: 98%

Notice how my favorite subject is the highest :) Although, it has a lot to do with the easy-ness of the class and how the teacher's really easy...

I fell in love with

The Art of Problem Solving. It is the best math series ever. If you have any idea how math will positively affect your life, buy it. If not, buy it anyways.
I hope I can get a copy of Vol. 1 soon, but it's kind of expensive...

Andi: To clarify things, I can start learning how to drive (by actually driving) when I'm 15. Yes, the driving age is 16, but that means when you can get your driver's license. However, you have to have a learner's permit for one year, and if you don't get it right on your 15th birthday, you can't get your license as soon as you turn 16.

I have straight A+'s as of today! (Notice how easy my classes are.) YES! The quarter (or "nine weeks"... stupid Floridian language) ends tomorrow. I just need to get a 98% or higher on my science test to guarantee it. I wonder why the 8 is so high up... 1234567890 Very interesting.

Mohs Hardness Scale (again)

We're identifying minerals in science, and one of the properties we're using is hardness. I have much to complain about Mohs Hardness Scale.
The easiest test is using fingernails. If you can scratch it, it's a 1-2. However, some people have really, really sharp fingernails! In fact, someone's very sharp fingernail cut me today, and I started bleeding a lot more than I had expected...
Next, there is the copper penny. What if the school you went to was so poor that they couldn't afford copper pennies for everyone? Or, what if you didn't go to school in the US? How could you get your hands on a COPPER PENNY? A lot of smart countries don't even HAVE pennies. Like China. They also don't have more than one time zone, which is even smarter.
The next test would be the steel file. However, we used a nail in our experiments. The point of a nail is very sharp. But it wasn't a file. It was a nail. Nails aren't files, and files aren't nails.
Now comes the glass. MHS mentions "glass" and "hard glass". Again, different countries probably might not know how the US judges "standard glass". In China, the paper bags are incredibly thin, and so is the paper. I'm glad we don't use bags and paper to measure hardness...
And, finally, quartz , topaz, corundum, and diamond. They probably couldn't find any extremely hard "common items", so they had to just use minerals. I don't know about you, but I certainly don't have any quartz, topaz, corundum, or diamond lying around at home.
This is probably why we're doing the mineral lab at school, but it's still incredibly difficult to measure the hardness, and hard to tell if it has cleavage/fracture for some of them. Even the color is inconsistent, and most of the streaks are white. Luster hasn't helped me at all.
If my lab partner hadn't licked the halite, I don't know what I'd do for mineral #5.

Goldbach's Conjecture

Every integer greater than 5 can be expressed as the sum of three primes.

IKEA

I got one of those red-fish-children's IKEA-baskets from my mom(who was somewhere else for a few weeks), and I don't know what to put in it.
It might be a laundry basket, but it's too nice to hold dirty clothing. I am at lost for ideas. Right now, it's in the corner of my room, just sitting there...empty...

Yesterday was the Chinese Moon Festival! I went outside to see the moon, but I couldn't really find it, seeing as how the roof of our house was too high, and I was too lazy to walk farther from the front door. I could've gotten extra credit in science class for taking a picture of it, but the digital camera was with my mom, and I couldn't draw it because I couldn't find it, which brings me back to my original problem.

Sometimes I feel like I have no life. I go to school like everyone else, and when I'm bored, I either play the piano or solve my Rubik's Cube. All these other people GO places and DO things. I'm just sitting at home, typing this, realizing just how bored I am. I really need a ping-pong table. ^^ And a car. Because I need a car to drive to Sears and get a ping-pong table.

Well, if you have any idea what I can do with the basket, please post a comment! Thanks!

Mohs Hardness Scale

1. Talc- easily scratched by fingernail
2. Gypsum- can be scratched by fingernail
3. Calcite- barely can be scratched by a copper penny
4. Fluorite- easily scratched with steel file or glass
5. Apatite- can be scratched by steel file or glass
6. Feldspar- scratches glass, but does not scratch steel
7. Quartz- scratches both glass and steel
8. Topaz- scratches quartz
9. Corundum- scratches topaz
10. Diamond- scratches everything
11. I wonder if I'm going to be able to memorize this in an hour...

Buy candy now!

To everyone who can: Buy MAO candy now!!! They're $1 each, and we really need the money!!! THANKS!!!!!
To everyone in Mad City: If you want to buy candy, you'll have to come and visit me. Sorry.

I have actual homework today! YES!

short term memory loss

I completely forgot what I was going to put here.. I had decided about 3 hours ago... Oh well...
I'm kind of mad because the McDougal Littel web is down, so I can't really take the Spanish quiz for homework.
*long pause*
Right. I remember now.
I just realized how slow I am about the current events that are going on around this world. I was talking to my intellectual friend, Diana, when she suddenly told me about the three shootings that have been going on. Just then, I realized how little I seem to be watching TV these days, and it might actually turn out to be a bad thing. In fact, I now find almost no joy in watching TV at all. Maybe this depression thing has really gotten to me. I have no idea what people are talking about these days when they mention random topics that were probably on "NBC Nightly News". I guess I'm trying to say that a little TV never hurt anyone, and watching the news is a good idea, because it really does inform you of what's happening (unless there's something that the government is hiding from us, and I bet there's lots) and keeps you up to date!
My bro is currently singing in the shower. It's pretty weird. He's recently starting singing odd songs like that... O_o

interesting website

I know, I know. This is probably the 5th post today! But I remembered something! (again...)
Have you guys heard about www.savetoby.com?
It's pretty weird/hilarious at the same time O.O
In fact, at one point, it was on NBC.
If you have time, read the letters that people sent to the website.
It's not like I have no life! The only reason I knew about this was because my math team for the iTest met at the library and we had some time to spare, and the junior told me to go to the site because I happened to be sitting at the computer at that moment, and we all kind of looked at it and read some of the hate mail. Except for one girl who left to go home early because she thought we'd all left. :P

ET

Oops. I forgot.
I set the time on this blog to Eastern Time, just so you know.
And, if you don't remember, Mad City is in Central Time. There's a difference.
So, 2:00AM in Mad City is 3:00AM in the city where I *cough* unhappily *cough cough* live!

*laughs at my weird, ironic post*

Esp. for Maia: Hey y'all! How's Acc. Bio going? Are you doing Honors? Did y'all know that our principal uses it too? And that it's in Summer of My German Soldier?

LOL!

(If you don't understand why I posted this, read the comment from Maia under the post, "wOrDs".)

complaining

I had less than two minutes worth of homework today. It was pretty sad. I mean, by now, shouldn't I at least have to STUDY for something!
I'm starting to worry a lot about this, because if I expect to take AP classes eventually, I can't go on like I'm still in 7th grade. Actually, I feel like my current classes should BE 7th grade classes.
We were going to have a quiz on y=mx+b (in math, obviously) today, but the teacher postponed it to tomorrow because he wanted to make sure we understood it -.- There are way too many stupid freshmen/sophomores/juniors. Fortunately, there aren't any seniors in our class. That would lower the average IQ by way too much to comprehend.
In art, we're learning about the color wheel. I have a strong memory of doing complementary, supplementary, and analogous colors, tints, and shades in 6th grade... And with paint, too, so it was harder.
I can't really complain about history since I don't actually have it...
In P.E., we're doing cardiovascular fitness. I think I messed up my side from dehydration somehow. I have no idea what's wrong, but it hurts x_x
Spanish is just reviewing for the first test so far this year that isn't review from 7th grade.
In science, we're starting a chapter on rocks. Which is what I remember to be 3rd grade stuff.
English homework: read the chapters 5-6 of Summer of My German Soldier. Which I did last week... I think... Oh well, it doesn't matter.
I know, some of you must be thinking, "Why the ****(you can choose which word to put there- it's you who's talking) would epsieanniihsct be complaining about not having homework??!! I have to do SO MUCH!" Well, I'm really worried, paranoid, and grew up in a very traditional asian family. I'm suprised I'm not yelling at someone right now for giving me "honors" classes which aren't good enough, in my opinion...
Wow, I sound really crazy. I personally find this blog very boring. Feel free to email me about ideas for what to write!
Note: Please forgive me for the terrible conventions on this site, because I don't (usually) read over what I type. In addition that, I'm probably not going to put a non-generic layout here, because I'm really bad at HTML, and don't have the time, and it looks okay right now. Sorry!

Surprise!

To Alice: Oops. Well, THAT was surprising. ;) (That was correct, wasn't it?)

Sorry everyone, but I'm not giving away the answer to my new, awesome username! You can talk to each other about it, though. I'm sure one of you is good at codes! Hopefully... Seriously, the thing about the piano is a BIG hint!

-clues-

I didn't expect to post something yet AGAIN today, but I was talking to Mei, and decided, fine, I will. So thanks to her, you now have some very unhelpful hints. (Was tthat an oxymoron? I guess it was!)

Here are clues to figuring out the meaning of"epsieanniihsct":
1. It has to do with piano. Ooooh. *sarcasm* Suprise suprise.
2. Anyone who can read this blog can figure it out.
3. When/If you figure it out, all will make sense, and you will be... enlightened.

wOrDs

After living in the portion of the country that I'm currently living, I have found that the different dialects here have some very odd words. I personally don't agree with ANY of these differences, and really do miss the wonderful English that Mad City uses...
Here are some differences:
binder-> notebook
skiing-> snow skiing
ustedes/vosotros forms -> yall
vosotros-> as real as "i" in Spanish II
(you all-> yall)
assignment notebook-> agenda book
snow-> bad

RW was right. They do use "yall" all the time. I hope to build up an immunity to it, or I'm going to go even crazier than I already am.

~*~sympathy*~*

To Rzuee: I feel extremely sympathetic for you, and could not send any sympathetic emails to you during your lonely times, because no one actually told me about those lonely times, so PLEASE forgive me! I never intended to make you feel bad! I am hoping that sending sympathy to you by announcing it on the world wide web will help you feel better!
And yes, that's how you spell the school's name. It's not too hard. Well, yeah, it's longer than YOUR school's name, but only by.. let's see... two letters?

Well, I guess Bio is torture on opposite sides of the country! And I seem to be the only one without it... Well, I can't say "I know how you feel", but on the bright side for you guys, at least you can get it over with by the end of next spring unless you're one of the genii taking AP Bio next!

Science... fun..

Yeah, I gotta write a summary on how TAMLs work with hydrogen peroxide to break down chlorophenols(certain pollutants)... I never did like current events...

To Andi: I am very sorry if I offended you or any other non-asians. There are... a few... smart non-asians at my school. I just can't think of any right now... But there are plenty of smart non-asians in Mad City! ;)

xue2 xiao4 de ke4...

This blog is probably going to turn out to be my "online journal that few people check maybe once a decade so it's really for myself, I guess". :)

Yeah, this is a bit late, and a lot of you have no use of it, but here's my schedule:
-Algebra II Honors
-1st semester: Personal Fitness~2nd semester: Team Sports 1
-English I Honors
-First Lunch
-Spanish II
-1st semester: Art/2-D Comp I~2nd semester: Life Management
-Earth/Space Science Honors/Gifted

My last class is "gifted", probably only because all the gifted people have bio this year, and there weren't enough gifted people to fill entire classes, and it wouldn't've been convenient for all of them to be in one class because their schedules would've been hard to make. But there's at least one gifted person in the class.
Last week, my counselor gave me the gifted screening, which I failed by 8 points... I needed 130 poitns to pass. She told me that I was supposed to take it during elementary or perhaps middle school, because the test gets much harder as you get older... I agree. It was freakishly difficult. So, unless someone has $300 to spare and can give it to me, I can't take the Wisc IQ test. (If you haven't realized it yet, the whole point of the screening was to see if the school felt I was worthy enough to have an IQ test.)
So, obviously, the moral of the story is: Never let your counselor give you an important screening test with vocabulary that she can't pronounce.
I have nothing personal against my counselor, though. She is actually a very nice person. The only reason she couldn't pronounce them was probably because she didn't actually grow up in the US and most likely had a different "first language".
I guess the real, true moral of the story is: The state is underestimating the number of "gifted" people. Since most of these intellectual people are asians (yeah, I'm racist), they are underestimating the number of asians. Therefore, they are also underestimating the POWER of the asians in the US. Also, the University of Michigan issued a questionnaire to VHM that didn't include a choice for "asians" in the "What race are you?" section, and only had "Asian Americans". So, in conclusion, there are far more asians than the general population of the US knows. They're all keeping they're eyes on the Mexicans, but in reality, there's a big threat right in their very own capital cities. And I don't know how the topic of "my schedule" turned into "Mexicans".

Guess what it means! ;)
