Held Back

The teacher taught me two things in second grade.
1) She was really hungry once and walked around but refused to eat at Burger King because they demolished some Underground Railroads.
2) There was a census that year.
I was really close to skipping second grade. I don't know why the teacher suggested it, but he did. I remember doing this second grade worksheet and having to figure out what 42 divided by 7 was. Or was it 42 divided by 6? I figured it out eventually because I knew the concept but I hadn't memorized the times tables yet. I drew little dots on my paper so I could stare at them. Guess and check is your friend! It was weird. Then, I looked around the room because everyone around me left. I was all alone. Everyone was sitting on the carpet, listening to the teacher.
So I thought I wasn't going to go, but my mom didn't let me, and she didn't tell me that she had gone to the office or something to say that until it was too late and I asked. She thought that since I was already younger than almost everyone, I would have even more trouble making friends around older people.
Anyway, it feels weird to me that if I had moved on, I would now be a senior, and would probably be going to UF the coming fall.
